Obituary

Lila Mae Merck, age 92, wife of the late Gordon Merck, formerly of Pendleton, died January 10, 2012, at the Rainey Hospice House.Born in Anderson County, on March 28, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Gailey and Ila Hill Gailey. She worked in textiles for 48 years and retired from Appleton Mills in 1981. Lila attended East Clemson Christian Fellowship where she had served as a mission leader and was known for her delicious hot dogs.Mrs. Merck is survived by a son, Jack Merck and his wife, Bea of Baytown, TX; daughters, Marilyn Garrett and her husband, Wallace and Jo Ann Beebe and her husband, Jerry all of Pendleton; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.She was predeceased by her husband; her parents, 4 brothers and 6 sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.The Funeral Service will be held at East Clemson Christian Fellowship on Friday, January 13, 2012, at 2:00 pm, with Reverend Fred S. Fisher, Reverend Brandon Nixon and Reverend Josh Hensley officiating with interment to follow in Memory Gardens.The family will be at the home of Jo Ann Beebe, 105 Leah Drive, Pendleton, and will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, on Thursday, January 12, 2012, at the The McDougald Funeral Home.A message of condolence may be sent by visiting www.mcdougaldfuneralhome.com.
