Obituary

Linda Taylor Hawkins, age 82 of Anderson, SC, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born December 11, 1943, in Powdersville, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Vernon Taylor and Margaret Carolyn Taylor. She was also preceded in death by her son Carlton Ray Hawkins.

Linda was a devoted wife, homemaker, and the heart of her family. A traditional Southern woman with deep faith and strong values, she lived her life with kindness, grace, and an unmistakable sense of humor that brightened every room she entered. Known for her remarkable talent with numbers, Linda served as the bookkeeper for her husband's businesses for many years, bringing dedication, precision, and reliability to everything she did. Beyond her work, she took immense pride in creating a warm and welcoming home. Her house was always immaculate, a reflection of the care and love she poured into her family and surroundings. Linda loved life and embraced every opportunity to enjoy it. She was happiest surrounded by friends and family, whether dancing, playing cards and never losing at Canasta, visiting casinos, or spending cherished time at Party Island on Lake Hartwell. Her outgoing personality made her one of the most social and beloved people in her neighborhood. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. An exceptional cook, Linda expressed her love through the meals she prepared and the gatherings she hosted. Her kitchen was often the center of laughter, conversation, and treasured memories. She was known for her sass, her quick wit, and her ability to bring joy to any occasion. Above all, Linda was a loving, kindhearted woman whose faith guided her life and whose generous spirit touched countless people.

She is survived by her daughter, Sonja Hawkins of Greenville, SC; sister, Joan Bradley (Gary) of Travelers Rest, SC; three grandchildren: Chasen Hawkins (Yvan Datahan) of Taylors, SC; Angela Hawkins of Simpsonville, SC; James Hawkins of Simpsonville, SC; and a loving family friend, Cynthia Hall.
