OBITUARYMR. LINDSEY CORDELLFebruary 16, 1908 - September 29, 2006ANDERSON, SCMr. Lindsey O. Cordell, age 98, husband of Viola Smith Cordell, of 605 Don Avenue, Anderson, SC, passed away Friday, September 29, 2006 at the Hospice House in Anderson, SC.Born in Hartwell, GA on February 16, 1908, Mr. Cordell was the son of the late James Lindsey Cordell and Mary Lou Slater Cordell. He was retired from Orr Lyons Mills with 56 years service and was a charter member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Hartwell, Ga. and a member of the Hoyt Brown Sunday School Class.Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Viola Smith Cordell of the home; daughters, Barbara Taliaferro and her husband Tommie of Petersburg, VA and Peggy Taylor and her husband Raymond of Anderson, SC. Five grandchildren, Lynn Moore, Augusta, GA., Tracy Taliaferro, Prince George, VA, Greg Taylor, Anderson, SC, Brad Taylor and Russ Taylor, Starr, SC, and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Alberta Jaynes, Anderson, SC and Audrey Lewis, Warner Robins, GA and several nieces and nephews including a very devoted niece, Nina Bradford, Hartwell, GA.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Janie Richardson, Vennie Kay and Myrtice Cordell and brother Woodrow Cordell. He was also preceded in death by brothers John Cordell, Thomas Cordell, Llewellyn Cordell, Cullen Cordell, Fletcher Cordell, Leonard Cordell, Lonnie Cordell, and Isham Cordell, and sisters Mamie Gulley, Lizzie Shiflet, and Annie Ruth Brown.The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2006 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Terry Meeks and Reverend Bill Davidson. Interment will follow in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Hartwell, GA.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, October 1, 2006 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.The family will be at the home of the daughter, Peggy Taylor, 4700 Abbeville, Hwy, Anderson, SC.Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church Building Fund, 1543 Anderson Hwy, Hartwell, GA 30643 or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.A message of condolence may be sent to the family by visitingwww.mcdougaldfuneralhome.comTHE MCDOUGALD FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
