The McDougald Funeral Home2211 North Main StreetAnderson, South Carolina 29621864-224-4343OBITUARY: Anderson, SC LIZ WILLISANDERSON, SC 'Elizabeth Ann McKimmy Willis, age 54, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011, peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a yearlong battle with cancer. Born in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of Henry and Maurine McKimmy and the wife of Jeff Willis. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Susanna Wesley Circle. Surviving in addition to her father and husband are Jonathan and Nathan Jester, Amy Hammond and husband Jody, Jackie and Melissa Willis along with grandchildren Grayson and Jozie Hammond and special friends, Joan and Everett Smith of Edisto Beach. She was predeceased by her mother, Maurine McKimmy and brother, Stephen McKimmy.Liz was a graduate of Westside High School. She was involved with the Brain Injury Alliance of SC and was the founder of the Anderson Oconee Pickens Brain Injury Support Group created to assist families and victims dealing with traumatic brain injuries. Her strong advocacy for this group was recognized with an appointment by Governor Mark Sanford to the Anderson County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs.She enjoyed decorating, gardening, and most of all conversation. With a heart to match her personality, Liz affected the lives of many and will be missed by all who knew her.The Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Trinity United Methodist Church conducted by the Reverend Paul Frey. The AOP Brain Injury Support Group as well as the Susanna Wesley Circle will serve as Honorary Escort. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 6pm until 8pm on Monday.
