Lois Clara James Higginbotham, age 80, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

Born December 9, 1944, in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late Albert Otto James, Sr. and Rilla Fannie McCrary James. She was also preceded in death by her husband Michael Elliott Higginbotham; grandson, Hunter Allen; brother, Albert Otto James, Jr.; and sisters, Margaret Hannah, Edith Toney, Mary Ellen James, and Kathy James.

Clara was a fiercely independent woman, headstrong, and had a tremendous work ethic. She was a cosmetologist who also loved getting her own hair, nails and makeup done. She took pride in her appearance and was always very well put together. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren! Clara enjoyed traveling, going out to eat, and taking her grandchildren to the fish hatchery and Carowinds. She was very involved with her church Living Church of God, her family, and her friends including her special friend Wink Chambers. Her fun spirit will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her children, Russell Jordan (Tommi), Melanie Allen (Chad), and Kevin Jordan (Danna); brother, Nathan James; sister, Annie Jewel Smith; and grandchildren, Dylan Jordan, Bailee Jordan, Carter Jordan, Ashtyn Allen, Brady Jordan, and Landen Jordan.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 11:30 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Poole officiating. Burial will follow at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of Melanie Allen.
