Lora Mae Madden Whitt, age 94, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born July 2, 1932, in Eastanollee, GA, she was the daughter of the late Larkin Whiten and Ida Collins Whiten. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Doyle Harrison Madden; second husband, T. Richard Whitt; son, Rev. Alan Madden; Baby Girl Madden; and her siblings. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mae was a registered nurse and was formerly the manager of the OR at AnMed Medical Center. Following her career at AnMed, she taught nursing assistants at Tri-County Technical College until she retired in 2019. She was a longtime faithful member of First Baptist Church of Anderson having joined the church when she was 18 years old and sang in the choir. Mae loved her work, her church, and her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Lynne McCarragher (Steve) and Ann Bolt (Terry); grandchildren, Hannah Watt (Cory), Hillary Turner (Lance), Katie Harpalani (Levenesh), Wesley Madden, Rebekah Madden, Mark McCarragher (Elizabeth), and Paul McCarragher (Jordyn Roark); and great grandchildren, Eliana, Joy, Solomon, Hope, Rayna, Aubrey, Natalie, Julia, Griffen, Olivia, and one on the way.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 1:30-2:45 pm at First Baptist Church of Anderson. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm with Rev. Christopher Simonton officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
