Obituary

Lorene Player Walters, age 92, of Anderson, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at the home of her daughter in Mauldin, SC. Born in Charleston, SC, on September 25, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Grover C. Player and the late Renda Ward Player. For over forty-one years, she was the loving and devoted wife of the late William "Bill" Walters until his death in 1981. Mrs. Walters was an inspector for the Scott Shirt Factory in Anderson, retiring when the plant closed after many years of service. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved cooking and sewing. Survivors include three daughters, Pat Burnett of Columbia, SC, Jeanette Webb and her husband Phillip of Anderson, and Debbie McCombs and her husband Wayne of Mauldin, SC; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is her beloved cat Asia. Lorene was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and her husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers. The family will hold a private graveside service later at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with Rev. Dwight Greene officiating. A message of condolence may be sent by visiting www.mcdougaldfuneralhome.com.
