Louise Moss Cosens, age 97, of Anderson, widow of Earl Thurman Cosens, died at home after a brief illness on Thursday, July 30, 2015, at 4:15 p.m. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Bobo Moss and Paran Sams Moss of the Mt. Paran Community, Blacksburg SC. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, a faithful member of the Mary O. Holler Sunday School class and Circle #2, and a member of St. John's Happy Group. She loved her church and volunteered many hours of service during her latter years. She is survived by two daughters, Sara Cosens Waters (John H.Waters III) of Emerald Isle NC and Ann Cosens Ward (Robert B.Ward) of Chapel Hill NC, two grandsons, John H. Waters IV of Washington DC and Edmund Todd Waters of Emerald Isle NC, and one granddaughter, Katie Cosens Ward Dickey (John William Dickey III) of Greensboro NC, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her wonderful caregivers who made it possible for her to live in her home for the last two years and during her illness. Her surviving family members are truly grateful for the tender loving care each of them provided to her. She was preceded in death by son Edmund Earl Cosens as well as her eight siblings. Three sisters, Ollie Moss Blalock, Clara Moss Lancaster, and Alice Moss Ambrose and her five brothers, Charles B. Moss, John H. Moss, Forrest S. Moss, Clarence P. Moss, and Vance W. Moss. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday August 23, 2015. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 2 pm at the funeral home. A brief graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn immediately following the 3 pm service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the St. John's Heritage Fund, the Eddie Cosens Scholarship Fund, or a charity of choice.
