LUCY STRAUP KING May 26, 1918 - February 24, 2007PALMERTON, PAMrs. Lucy Straup King, 88 of Palmerton, PA, died Saturday, February 24, 2007. She was the wife of Richard A. King since, November 11, 1979 and the late Allen E. Straup. Born in Minersville, PA, she was a daughter of the late John and Ann (Beretsky) Onushco. Lucy worked as a registered nurse for Palmerton Hospital for 30 years and was a 1939 graduate of Palmerton Hospital School of Nursing. Previously, she worked as a registered nurse for Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palmerton. Lucy was an avid golfer and a member of Blue Ridge Country Club since 1945. She was a member of the Tuesday Ladies League and played for the women's club championship several times.Survivors include husband; son, Dr. Robert Straup and his wife, Susan Holmes Straup, of Anderson, SC; three grandsons, Michael, Richard and his wife, Stephanie, all of Anderson and Ryan of Charleston, SC; two stepdaughters; one step-son; nine step-grandchildren and 16 step-great-grandchildren.A Memorial Mass was held on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a private interment in Towanmensing Cemetery, Palmerton, PA.Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Carbon-Tamaqua Unit, 33 W.
