Luis Antonio Alvarad0, age 67, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, SC. Born in Puerto Rico, on November 8, 1948, he was the son of the late Felicita Cancel Cruz and her husband Julio Cruz. He attended Bible Institute in New York where he lived until 1978. After moving to Anderson, he worked with AnMed Security and was an interpreter with many organizations. He was a member of West Anderson Church of God where he taught the first Spanish Sunday School Class. He is survived by his loving wife, Mariam Spencer Alvarado of the home; his children, Nancy A. Brito, of Greenville, SC, Luis Alvarado, Jr., of New York, Robert Alvarado, of Anderson, SC and Dialys Gomzalez, of Anderson, SC: his siblings, Mario Cruz, of Anderson, Elaine Velez, of Anderson, SC, and Raquel Varges, of New York; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Julio Cruz; and two sisters, Nancy and Marilyn Cruz. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. with Reverend Eduardo Nieves and Reverend John Daniel officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
