Mabel C. Powell Wilder, 96, of Pendleton, SC, passed away Monday, September 30, 2019 at Rainey Hospice House. Born September 20, 1923 in Oconee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Frank Carver and Mae Jenkins Carver. She was twice married, first to the late Almon Bert Powell and second to the late Robert M. Wilder. She was the retired owner of Mabel's Beauty Shop in Pendleton. She enjoyed her charity work with the Southern Bell Pioneers Club and she was formerly the State President of the VFW Auxiliary. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Pendleton. Mabel was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Gerald Powell (Becky) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Kenneth Powell (Annette) of Williamston and Sandie Carnes of Anderson; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a great-grandson, four sisters and three brothers. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30am Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held in the chapel at 12:00pm with Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg officiating. Burial will follow in Oconee Memorial Park, Seneca, SC. The family will be at the home of Kenneth and Annette Powell.
