Charles M. Buchanan, age 69, of Anderson, SC, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022. He was born October 30, 1952, in Anderson to the late Jessie D. Buchanan and Sue McElroy Buchanan. Mack was a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School Class of 1970, the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science, and a 1977 graduate of Clemson University earning his bachelor's degree in Administrative Management. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War. Mack was a licensed funeral director and embalmer and retired from The McDougald Funeral Home after 34 years of faithful and dedicated service. He was a member of the Georgia Academy of Graduate Embalmers, the National Funeral Directors Association, the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association, the Professional Car Society and New Prospect Baptist Church in Anderson. Mack married Patti McLane on May 15, 1976 and they were married for 46 wonderful years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Russell D. Buchanan of Spartanburg, SC, and David M. Buchanan of Greenville, SC; brother, Jessie E. "Buck" Buchanan (Lynn); mother-in-law, Ann S. McLane; and his two black labs Buf Buf and Roxy. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Tom Turner officiating. The family will speak with guests immediately following the service at the cemetery.
