Major Whitfield, Jr., 77, of Anderson, SC, passed away Monday, October 5, 2020 at Southpointe Healthcare and Rehabilitation. He was born March 25, 1943 in LaFrance, SC, and was the son of the late Major Whitfield, Sr. and Eunice Payne Whitfield. Major will best be remembered for his ability to "MacGyver" anything, love for horses and old westerns, and his fearless sense of adventure. He was happiest when traveling the country in his self-restored camper with beloved family and friends. Major was a member of Crossway Community Church. He is survived by his wife, Doris "Dot" Alewine Whitfield; daughters, Cindy Fowler (Mark) of Sandy Springs and Rita Cantrell (Scott) of Anderson; sister, Marjorie Morgan of Pendleton; grandchildren, Jason Fowler, Lacey Richey, Cassidy Fouche' and Carly Cantrell; and great-grandchildren, Andi, Lucas, Wiley and Scottie.
