MAMIE B. COOLEY Mamie B. Cooley of Anderson, SC and Myrtle Beach, SC passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015. She was born on January 8th, 1925. Mamie was 90. She was the daughter of Oscar C. Bratcher and Carrie B. Bratcher of Honea Path, SC. Mamie was married to the late Fred H Cooley, Sr. of Anderson, SC and of North Myrtle Beach, SC. Mamie's career as a Registered Nurse graduating from the Anderson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing spanned 40 years. After working as a surgical scrub nurse at Anderson Memorial Hospital for many years, Mamie taught Surgical Technology for the Anderson County Technical School System for 17 years where she retired. She was an longtime member of Boulevard Baptist Church in Anderson, SC and the Adult Workers Class of First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach, SC. Family and friends were Mamie's passion and delight. She enjoyed up spending summers in Myrtle Beach, SC where she so enjoyed the beach and the coastal life. She and Fred Sr. retired to Little River, SC and made many lifelong friends there. They were active square dancers and traveled extensively throughout the United States with a square dancing troop. Mamie is survived by her niece Becky Hendricks of Anderson, SC who was like a sister to her. She has 3 sons; Danny R. Cooley of Myrtle Beach, SC, Fred H. Cooley, Jr. and his wife Linda of Greenwood, SC and O. Clarke Cooley and his wife Larinda of Anderson, SC. She has 3 grandchildren, Christopher J. Cooley and his wife Caroline of Carolina Beach, NC, Jill Cooley Spears of Charleston, SC, and Kelly Cooley Gaston of Jacksonville, Fl. There are three great grandsons, Tucker, Hudson and Sawyer Spears of Summerville, SC. Special thanks to the shut-in committee of the First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach Adult Workers Class and Lower Cape Fear Mercy Hospice. Memorials can be made to the church of choice, Boulevard Baptist Church in Anderson, SC and the First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach, SC. There will be a visitation at Lee Funeral Home in Little River, SC on Friday, May 22, 2015, from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home in Anderson, SC on Saturday, May 23, 2015, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mrs. Cooley will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2015, at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home in Anderson at 2 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Johnny McKinney officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
