Obituary

Florence Manilla Bell Hanks, age 96, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015 at Ellenburg Nursing Center. Born in Abbeville County on March 22, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Julian B. Bell and the late Virginia Cann Bell. She was a homemaker known for her gardening and sewing skills. Florence was a member of First Baptist Church of Iva and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her children, George W. Hanks and his wife Brenda and Linda H. Burdette; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hanks; three brothers and four sisters. The Graveside service will be held at Iva City Cemetery on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend Fred E. Griggs officiating. The family will gather for a time of visitation following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Anderson County P.A.W.S, 1320 Highway 29 South, Anderson, SC 29624.
