Blackwell, age 82, husband of Helen Smith Blackwell of 1308 Phyllis Drive, died Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at the AnMed Health Medical Center.Born in Anderson, SC on April 8, 1925, Mr. Blackwell was a son of the late William Fletcher Blackwell and Dolia Bowen Blackwell. He served in the United States Navy and the United States Air Force during World War II, serving on the USS Miami. He was retired from Appleton Mill, was a member of the D.A.V. and Eureka Baptist Church. In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by daughters, Susan Yates and Pamela Massey of Anderson and Jan James of Batesburg, SC; brothers, L. Eugene Blackwell and Dewitt Blackwell; sisters, Pearl Harrington, Alice Hendrix, Margaret Jones and Mary Mauldin. Six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.He was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2007 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Dr. Ron Fousek and Rev. Ronnie James officiating. Interment will follow in New Silverbrook Cemetery with Military Honors by the Upstate Veteran Honor Guard.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, November 15, 2007 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.Flowers are optional.
