Marcella Chasteen Jefferson, age 70, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Patewood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Born in Anderson, SC on December 9, 1946, she is the daughter of Ruby Swangham Chasteen, of Anderson, and the late Charlie Chasteen. After graduating from T.L. Hanna High School, Marcie continued on to earn her degree from Forest College and worked part-time as a substitute school teacher. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her sons, Chad and Jason Hackett; a sister, Susan Witt; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Hewell. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Tony Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective homes, and will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palladium Hospice, 10 Enterprise Blvd, Suite 202, Greenville, SC 29715.
