Margaret H. Benfield, age 81, of Belton, SC, loving wife to the late Bobby S. Benfield, passed away Friday, December 3, 2021, at NHC Healthcare, Anderson. Born February 24, 1940, in Belton, SC, she was the daughter of the late Howard C. Hawkins and Thelma Jones Hawkins. Margaret worked as a weaver at Glen Raven where she later retired. She enjoyed reading cookbooks, working in her yard gardening, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Jones Chapel Church of God. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah S. Kay (Dale) of Townville, SC, and Cindy S. Scruggs of Pickens, SC; sister, Sylvia H. Valentine of Anderson, SC; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Bobby, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert N. Shirley. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home.
