Rebecca Margaret Allen Furguile, age 85 of Iva, passed away at Iva Rehab and Health Care on Sunday, July 2, 2017, with her loving family by her side. Born on June 23, 1932, in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late William Beno Allen and the late Corrie Scarborough. For over sixty-five years, she was the loving and devoted wife of Joe Furguile of the residence. Mrs. Furguile was a graduate of Anderson Girls' High School, Class of 1950. She was a seamstress and a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. Margaret was a faithful member of Poplar Spring Baptist Church where she taught in the children's Sunday school. She was a WMU Leader and Vacation Bible School Director for many years. In addition to her husband, Joe, Mrs. Furguile is survived by a son, Michael J. Furguile and his wife, Mildred of Iva; three daughters, Belinda F. Copeland and her husband, Larry, of Anderson, Donna F. Campbell of Anderson, and Theresa F. Anderson of St. Peters, MO; a brother, Frank Allen of California; also surviving are eight grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cindy Brown; a great-grandson, Alex Hollingsworth; three brothers, Herman, Grady and Bobby Allen; three sisters, Frances Allen, Florence Taylor, and Ada Mae Eberhart; and a son-in-law, Jim Anderson. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mrs. Furguile will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Poplar Spring Baptist Church, Iva, with Rev. Tony Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Poplar Spring Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Belinda and Larry Copeland, 1129 Brown Road, Anderson, and will receive friends at Poplar Spring Baptist Church, on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Furguile may be made to Gideons International, PO Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214.
