YOUNGJULY 23, 1916 - April 27, 2011ANDERSON, SC ' Margaret Cornelia Garrison Young, 94 years old, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at the Presbyterian Home in Lexington, SC. She was born in Easley, SC, on July 23, 1916, as the only daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Mark Edgar Garrison. She was educated in the Easley public schools and was a graduate of Queens University in Charlotte, NC. She married Joseph Manning Young of Anderson, SC, on October 12, 1940, in Easley. They were married fifty-nine years and lived their entire life in Anderson.Margaret was very active in the Anderson community, volunteering with the Anderson Woman's Club, a hospital volunteer, and in the schools. She and Joe were lifelong members of the First Presbyterian Church in Anderson, where she was active in the morning circle, serving fellowship dinners, decorating the church for Christmas, and in the Ladies Bible Class in Sunday School.She is survived by her son, Joseph Manning Young, Jr. (Jody) and his wife, Regina; grandsons: Jay Young and Jeff Young, all of Lexington, SC; and a nephew, Ken Garrison of Little Silver, NJ. Mrs. Young was predeceased by her husband, Joe; and brothers: Loring Garrison of Easley and Wilton Garrison of Charlotte, NC.A Memorial Service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, May 1, 2011, in the Gallant Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church of Anderson. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
