The McDougald Funeral Home 2211 North Main Street Anderson, South Carolina 29621 864-224-4343 OBITUARY: ANDERSON, SC MARGIE MAGEE OSBURN June 7, 1913 - December 14, 2012 Margie Magee Osburn, age 99 1/2, of 1501 East Greenville Street, died peacefully at NHC Healthcare on Friday, December 14, 2012, following a brief illness. Born in Converse, LA, she was the daughter of the late Chester Barnum Magee, Sr., and the late Alice Burkett Magee. For 52 years, Margie was the loving and devoted wife of the late George Olando Osburn until his death in 1992. Mrs. Osburn was both a teacher and homemaker. She attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. Passionate about duplicate bridge, she ranked second in her age group in the State of South Carolina at age 92. Margie was a faithful member of Grace Episcopal Church and active in Saint Catherine's Guild. Survivors include her son, Dr. George Hugh Osburn and his wife, Jan, of Anderson; 3 grandchildren, Ashley O. Principe and her husband, Frank, of Baltimore, MD, Jeremy H. Osburn of Charlotte, NC, and Tobin M. Osburn of Atlanta, GA; 3 great-grandchildren, Sam, Burk and Lilly Principe, of Baltimore. In addition to her parents and husband, George, she was preceded in death by a brother, Chester Barnum Magee, Jr., and sisters, Vernice M. Bazemore, Yvonne M. Campbell, and Fannie M. Carruth. A private graveside service for Mrs. Osburn will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, with Reverend Jack Hardaway and Reverend Richard Cockrell officiating. A Memorial Book of Registration will be available at The McDougald Funeral Home. A special thanks to all staff of NHC Station 3 and Caris Hospice, especially Cinda Woodard, RN, and Kandace Bell.
