MARIAN FINDLEY SMITH Marian Findley Smith, age 79, of 107 Perpetual Square Drive, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born on December 3, 1934 in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late James J. Findley and the late Helen Eskew Findley. For 55 years, she was the loving and devoted wife of the late David Ray Smith until his death in 2010. She was a beloved grandmother and aunt who always knew the special gifts her family needed. She loved gardening and all things that bloom. She was a graduate of Girls High School and Anderson College. She was retired from Anderson School District 5 where she took care of many young people in her role as kindergarten assistant at Concord Elementary School. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she also taught in the kindergarten program. Survivors include 3 sons, Edward Findley Smith and his wife, Virginia, of North Charleston, SC, David Steven Smith and his wife, Ann, of Easley, and Shannon Harris Smith and his wife, Sherry of Mt. Crawford, VA; a sister, Catherine Smith and husband, John, of Spring Mills, PA; a sister-in-law, Floride Findley of Easley; 5 grandchildren, Joshua and Jared Smith, Lisa West and husband Taylor, and Dylaney and Carly Smith. In addition to her parents, and husband, David, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a brother, James Elliott Findley. Her family would like to express special thanks to the caring staff of Summit Place Assisted Living. A Funeral Service to celebrate and honor the life of Marian Smith will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2014, at 3 PM at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Frey officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence of Steve and Ann Smith, 313 Frank Street, Easley, and will receive friends at Forest Lawn Memorial Park following the committal service.
