Elizabeth Marie Winters Garland, age 84, of Anderson, SC, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at NHC Healthcare Anderson. Born November 16, 1937, in Hall County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Winters and Effie Mae Townsend Winters. She was married for 62 years to Kenneth Jerry Garland until his death in October 2016. Marie was a graduate of Girls High. She enjoyed classic country music and traveling. Marie loved her family and was devoted to her grandchildren. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She is survived by her son, Dean Garland (Carol Ann) of Anderson; sister, Peggy Clements of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Rusty Garland (Eleisha), Scott Garland (Miranda), Dawn Poole (Michael), and Duane Hamm (Miranda); 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Hamm; 2 brothers and 1 sister. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 5, 2021, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm in the Chapel with Stan Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery. Those serving as pall bearers are Rusty Garland, Scott Garland, Duane Hamm, Michael Poole, Jace Poole, and Cooper Latimer.
