Marie Emily Gallagher Herbert, age 91, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016, at her home and is now asleep with Jesus. Born in Atlantic City, NJ on July 13, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Walter Lindley Gallagher and the late Emily Lott Brown Gallagher. Marie retired from National Heritage Corporation after many years of dedicated service. She was very active in the community, having held various roles with the Girl Scouts and Camp Fire Girls, she served on the Board of the United Way, was a Pink Lady at AnMed, and a member of the Melrose Garden Club. Marie was an artist, a flower judge, an avid tennis player, and golfer and enjoyed playing Bridge and Dominoes. She enjoyed traveling and relaxing at the beach. She loved spending time with her family, especially around Christmas. Marie attended Roberts Presbyterian Church. She is survived by four sons, Dr. James Herbert (Ann) of Anderson, SC, Jack Herbert (Anne) of Marietta, GA, Jeff Herbert (Debra) of Anderson, SC and Joey Herbert (Cindy) of Pendleton, SC; a daughter, Judy Edmonds of Anderson, SC; grandchildren, Tricia McDougald (Douglas), Jamie Herbert (Vera), Blair Herbert (Sabrina), Andy Edmonds (Andria) , Kristen Harnly (Keith) , Emily Hart Herbert, Jordan Herbert (Kylie), Matt Herbert (Chandler) and Sarah Herbert; and great-grandchildren, Max McDougald, Ben McDougald, Meg McDougald, Jacqueline Herbert, James Herbert, Jonathan Harnly, Allison Harnly, Ben Edmonds, Alexandria Herbert, and Amelia Herbert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Dick" Orlando Herbert; and two brothers, Paul and Ralph Adams. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016, at 11:00 am at Roberts Presbyterian Church with Reverend Jack Taylor officiating. Entombment will follow at the Herbert Family Mausoleum at Roberts Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 10:00 am until 10:45 am in the Fellowship Hall of Roberts Presbyterian Church.
