Marie D. Swaney Pendleton, SC Marie D. Swaney, age 74, of 335 Major Street, Pendleton, SC, passed away on April 2, 2014, at her residence. Born in Anderson County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Eddie James Durham and the late Ruthie Anna Haney Durham. Following a short career in textiles, Marie opened a home day care. There, she and her husband lovingly cared for many children, teaching them the important values of life. Marie enjoyed gospel music especially singing with the Gospel Travelers. She was an excellent cook and was known for her fried chicken, apple pies and gravy biscuits. But mostly she enjoyed being a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She will be truly missed by her family. She was a member of Fants Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Charles Thomas Swaney; her children, Tony Swaney, Mitchell Swaney and his wife Kathy, Kenny Swaney and his wife Cindy and Lynn Crawford and her husband Steve; a brother, Calvin Durham; six grandchildren, Heath Swaney, Chad Crawford, Clay Crawford, Heather Caldwell, Anna Thomason and Holly Swaney; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Susie Riley, Lula Mae Shults, Tom Durham, Drayton Durham and Dorothy Durham. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Fants Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Eddie Burdette, Reverend Jimmy Clark, and Reverend Phillip Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Clemson, SC. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, April 4, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted.
