Mark C. Cameron, Jr., age 79, of Anderson, SC, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023, at his residence. Born June 30, 1944, in Paulsboro, NJ, he was a son of the late Mark C. Cameron, Sr. and the late Gertrude McBride Cameron. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Short, brother, Steve, and sister, Joan. Mark worked as a crane operator and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Honea Path. He was a skilled builder. Mark enjoyed building; working with his hands. His home is an example of the creations he made. He enjoyed collecting guns and had a variety of treasures. Mark was a man of few words unless you were four-legged. He loved his animals and spent hours with his horses, goats, dogs and cats. Proof, his dog, was his best friend. "If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans.", best describes Mark. He is survived by his children, Mark C. Cameron, IV (Dana) and Tammy Loucks (Randy); four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. A memorial service to honor the life of Mark Cameron will be held Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 11 am at the chapel of the McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend David Peeks officiating.
