Martha Davis Cole, age 98, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Morningside of Anderson. Born May 6, 1926, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Davis and Onie Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Crayton Cole, and her 15 siblings; her brothers, Allan Davis, R.M. Davis, Pelham Davis, Marvin Davis, Jimmy Davis, Ralph Davis, Furman Davis, and James Arthur Davis; and her sisters, Gertrude Meredith, Ollie Getsinger, Corine Harper, Hester Klinskey, Lee Cox, Dorothy Meredith (her twin sister), and Alma Tedder.
Martha was a member of Whitefield Baptist Church. She had a true servant's heart, and she enjoyed being a waitress and later owned a small restaurant with her husband. She was a sincerely wonderful, caring, and sensitive person with the world's best smile. She was a woman of strong faith, a prayer warrior, and always very active in her church. She supported and loved her family with all her heart. She and her husband Bill lived in Florida for three months out of the year enjoying time spent with their Florida friends. She loved to cook and her specialty included the very best pound cake. She also loved a good game of cards and playing bingo.
She is survived by her son, K. Laverne Cole (Christie); daughter, Patricia Cole Wigger; three grandchildren, Kerry Roache (Carol Ann), Tressa Strobl; and Grayson Cole (Lauren); seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 11:30 am-1:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 1:00 pm with Rev. Ken Wright officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 pm at Greenville Memorial Gardens, 7784 Augusta Road, Piedmont, SC 29673.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Live Send Fund, c/o Whitefield Baptist Church 207 Mitchell Road, Belton, SC 29627.
