MARTHA LAWTON GRAY January 10, 1923-October 6, 2013 IVA, SC Martha Lawton Gray, age 90, of Iva, widow of W.C. Gray, Jr. passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the Exhaulted Health and Rehabilitation. Born in Iva, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Ross Lawton and Pearl Mauldin Lawton. Martha was retired from Jackson Mills with over 40 years of service. She was a graduate of Iva High School. She attended First Baptist Church of Iva and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church where she belonged to Reba Wansley Sunday School Class, Women's Missionary Union, Caleb's Kin and served as a former Sunday School Teacher. She is survived by her son, William C. "Sonny" Gray, III and his wife Kathi of Iva, SC; sisters, Polly Compton, of Iva, SC, Betty Jo Adams and her husband Ansel, of Starr, SC; one granddaughter, Dawn Gray Moore and husband Tim of Myrtle Beach, SC; 3 great grandsons, Christopher White and his wife Jessica of Simpsonville, SC, Cody White of Orlando, Florida, and Chandler White of Myrtle Beach, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur, Jake, and Rob Lawton, and sisters, Fannie Mae McBride, Ruth Arnold, Cora Gray, Cleo Craft, Rita Ferguson, and Frances Burdette. The family will receive friends at Good Hope Baptist Church Monday, October 7, 2013 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM with the Funeral Service beginning at 2:00 PM with Reverend Dr. Robbie Garrett officiating. Interment will follow at Iva City Cemetery. Memorial may be made to the First Baptist Church of Iva, Building Fund, PO Box 475, Iva, SC, 29655.
