Martha Lou Messer McConnell, age 81, of Iva, SC, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021, at River Falls Rehabilitation and Healthcare. Born August 14, 1940, in Dillsboro, NC, she was a daughter of the late Lynn Adam Messer and Iva Lee Crisp Messer. She was the widow of Franklin Ray McConnell. Martha was a member of Calvary Baptist Temple where she was formerly a Sunday School teacher. She will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, and Nana. She is survived by her son, Monty McConnell (Susan) of Marietta, SC; 6 grandchildren, Ethan (Lucy), Noah (Danielle), Carleigh, Simon, Emmalyn, and Susanna; brothers, Larry and T.C. Messer; and sisters, Bennie Steppe and Johnnie Raines. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Ray McConnell; and 2 brothers and 4 sisters. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 18, 2021, from 10:00-11:00 am at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 am in the Chapel with Rev. John Revis officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
