Martin Wesley Struth, Jr., age 77, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Rainey Hospice House.
Born November 21, 1946, at the Pensacola Naval Base, FL, he was the son of the late Martin Wesley Struth and Jessie Mae Campbell Struth. He was also preceded in death by a son, Martin Wesley Struth, III; and sisters, Betty Struth and Sandra Rayburn.
Martin was a graduate of Milton High School and Auburn University earning a degree in Aviation Management. He spent 36 years of his career in the textile industry having worked for Burlington Industries, Dan River, and CMI. Following his retirement, he enjoyed a 10-year career working in real estate. During his school years, he played basketball and baseball. He loved watching college football but mainly cheered for his Auburn Tigers. Martin was an avid fisherman and loved being out on his boat. He also enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, barbequing on his Big Green Egg, and traveling to the beach. He was a faithful member of Concord Baptist Church where he served in the Men's Ministry, the Radical Mentoring Ministry and was active in the Forever Young Seniors group and his Sunday School Class. He will be remembered as a faithful Christian who loved the Lord, his family, and helping others.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Grace Hancock Struth; children, Catherine Joiner (Sean) and Jerry Albertson (Lisa); brother, Michael Struth (Charlotte); grandchildren, Summer, Peter, and Elizabeth; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Don Cox officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private family entombment will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Concord Baptist Church Building Fund, 1012 Concord Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
The family would like to thank the many people who took great care of Martin during the last 11 years, AnMed Primary Care Family Medicine Residency, John Doster and Sarah Brendal of Anderson Cancer Center, Ron Sconyers of Anderson Family Dental, James Stokes of Piedmont Surgical Associates, Mark Pierce of Blue Ridge Orthopedics, Nephrology Associates, Vidal Despradel of AnMed Urology, AnMed Medical Center 5th Floor ICU, and Hospice of the Upstate/Rainey Hospice House.
