Marvin Chasteen, age 95, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025, at AnMed Medical Center.
Born May 22, 1930, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late John Chasteen and Beulah Howell Chasteen. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Turner Chasteen; a daughter, Margaret Elizabeth Chasteen; brothers, Rufus, James, Harold and Noah Chasteen; and sisters, Catherine Hendrix, Johnnie Sue Fant, Annie Mae Lollis and Mildred Jordan.
He was a faithful member of Trinity Springs Church of God and retired from Wamsutta, having worked in textiles all his working career. Marvin was an avid Atlanta Braves and Clemson Tigers fan. He was very active and enjoyed exercise, especially bike riding on the Swamp Rabbit Trail. He also loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors.
He is survived by his sisters, Juanita Hester, Helen Lollis and Christine Turner.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm at Trinity Springs Church of God. The funeral service will begin at 1:30 pm with the Rev. Allan Black officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Those wishing to pay their respects and sign the guest register may visit The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 9 am – 5 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38015 or the Anderson County Cancer Association, 215 E. Calhoun St., Anderson, SC 29621.
