Marvin L. Patterson, age 89, of Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at the Richard Campbell Veteran's Nursing Home. Born on December 23, 1927, in Anderson, he was the son of the late L. T. Patterson and the late Winnie Lou Mills Patterson Ward. For sixty-two years he was the loving and devoted husband of the late Narvis Timmerman Patterson until her death in 2016. Mr. Patterson proudly served his country in the US Air Force. He was employed as a Supervisor at the Orr Lyons Mill for over forty years. He, along with his wife, Narvis, was a charter member of McDuffie Street Church of God, and was currently a member of High Praises Church. Survivors include two sons, Gary Patterson (Debbie) and Greg Patterson, both of Anderson; two daughters, Renee Patterson and Krista Johnson (Deron), both of Anderson; a brother, Melvin Patterson of Anderson; two sisters, Martha Elgin and Miriam Deanhart, both of Anderson; five grandchildren, Jason Patterson (Whitney), Julie Thomas (Shane), Andrea Patterson, and Amber and Courtney Johnson; six great-grandchildren, Emma and Rhys Miller, Clara, Ben, Charlotte and Catherine Patterson. In addition to his parents and his wife, Marvin was preceded in death by an infant son Duane Patterson, and a brother, Charles Patterson. The funeral service honoring the life of Marvin L. Patterson will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017, at 12 p.m. at River of Life Church of God, with Reverend Dale Dyar officiating. Interment will follow at M. J. "Dolly" Cooper Veteran's Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Renee Patterson, 136 Stone Cottage Drive, Anderson.
