Marvin Lee Smith, of 300 Sarah Drive, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at the Rainey Hospice House.Born in Anderson, SC, on September 29, 1936, he was the son of the late L. G. Smith and the late Maudell Bowman Smith. His stepmother was the late Mittie Smith. He was a retired truck driver. Mr. Smith was a Navy Veteran serving in the Cuban Crisis.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife the late Sylvene Kinley Smith and a grandson, Steven Holloway.He is survived by his sons, Billy Johnson, Summerville; Chuck Johnson, Anderson, and Casey Johnson of the home; daughter, Dianne Johnson, Belton; brothers, Clifford Smith, Greenville, and John Smith, Anderson; sisters Jerrie Leopard and Margaret Reed, Anderson; and Betty Blair, Afton, TN; six grandchildren, Heather Johnson and Benjamin Johnson, Charleston; Samatha Moore, Kentucky; Amanda Turner and Michael Johnson, Anderson; and Shannon Sutton, Belton; and five great-grandchildren.A graveside service will be held Thursday, June12, 2008, at 10:30 AM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors. The family will conduct the service.
