Mary Frances Holcombe Sammons Carlton, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Franklin County, GA, on February 18, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William Parker Holcombe and the late Emeline Williams Holcombe. She worked in textiles, retiring from the Bobby Dan Manufacturing Company after many years of service. She was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. Frances was a loving mother and grandmother. Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Sue Simmons and her husband Donnie of Iva, SC; a brother, Joe Holcombe, of Iva, SC; sisters, Katherine Martin of Iva, SC and Cora Lee Meredith of Greenwood, SC; 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Sammons; her second husband, Jack Carlton; a son, Billy Sammons; a daughter, Patsy Poole; and a brother, Henry Holcombe. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. with Mr. Harry Osborne officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Sue and her husband Donnie and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted.
