Mary Carolyn Chambers Scott, 75, of Anderson, SC passed away peacefully at Rainey Hospice House on Friday, April 4, 2025.
Carolyn was born on July 7, 1949, in Comer, GA to the late Haskell Chambers and the late Willie Mae Hunsinger Martin. She was also predeceased by her first husband, James Henry Scott, Jr., sister, Deborah Osborne and step-father, Bedford Forest Martin.
She was a graduate from Girl's High School and a former employee with the Singer Company in Anderson, SC. With her passion and ability to grow any type of plant, she began a new career at Clemson University, retiring as a landscaping supervisor. She was a happy soul who loved to sing, laugh and dance around the house with her precious grands. Carolyn had a servant's heart and was always willing to help anyone at any time. She was a remarkable cook, specializing in cakes which she was always delighted to share. As a faithful member of Homeland Park Baptist Church, she served as a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir, and was very active with the youth. Carolyn was a friend to everyone, loved her Lord and cherished her family. Her joy, friendship, and love will be missed by all who had the fortune of knowing her.
She is survived by her husband, Claude Ledford McKern; children, Brenda Kelley (David), Jennifer Roberts (Brad), Kevin McKern (Crystal) and Amanda McKern; brother, Terry Bryant (Melinda); grandchildren, Dylan Vanadore, Dean Vanadore (Amber), Houston Kelley (Brantley), Jackson Kelley (Katie), Ashlyn Kelley, McKenzie Jacobs (Drew) and Skylar McKern; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Katelyn, Jace, Walker, Hudson, Oaklyn and Henry.
The family will gather to greet family and friends on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Wayne Dickard officiating.
The family will be at the home of her daughter, Brenda Kelley.
