She was a homemaker and volunteered for many years as a Pink Lady at Anderson Memorial Hospital. She had been a member of the Senior Follies and also volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Burriss was a lifelong, faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Anderson, the Burriss Hill Mission Group and a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class.Survivors include her son, Charles Irvin Walker of Lake Wales, FL; daughters, Cathey Walker Ward and her husband, Billy of Lake Wales, FL and Patricia Toussaint and her husband, Vincent of Clinton; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Irvin Walker and her second husband, Marcus Burriss; brother, Reece Cathey; sisters, Ina Kay, Lillian Sease, Nobie Mauldin and Hazel Willingham Crossland.A Memorial Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Old Silver Brook Cemetery, officiated by Chaplain Chad Bowen with the family receiving friends following the service.A special thanks to the staff of Hospice Care of South Carolina and especially Cindy and Keisha.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Laurens Hospice Care of South Carolina, 100 Plaza Circle, Suite A-2, Clinton, SC 29325.
