Mary Ellen Cobb Childers, 91, widow of the late J. C. "Jake" Childers, passed away at her residence on Sunday, June 10, 2018. Born in Anderson, SC, Mary was the daughter of the late Reverend Doyle "Papa" Cobb and Annie Walls Cobb. She was a life-long member and faithful attender of the River of Life (McDuffie Street) Church of God and the High Praises Church of God. Following a long career, she retired from Ryobi. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, the Reverend Dr. John D. Childers (Deborah), Cleveland, TN, and the Reverend Dr. Roger D. Childers (Pam), Simpsonville, SC; brothers, James Harrison Cobb and Larry E. Cobb; grandchildren, Jessica Ashe (Ryan), Josh Childers (Brooke), Jonathan Childers (Vanessa) and Jeremy Childers (Ashlie); and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death two days earlier by her loving sister, Gail Cobb. The Childers family will receive friends at the McDougald Funeral Home, Anderson, SC, on Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm with the funeral service to follow at 3:30 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.
