Mary Ruth Shiflet Cobb, age 89, of Townville, SC, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Oconee Memorial Hospital. Born December 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Forrest Denver Shiflet and Myrtice Lessie Shiflet. She was married to the late Joe Lee Cobb. Mary was retired from JP Stevens and was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, playing rummy, and helping the elderly. Mary's family meant everything to her and she loved them dearly. She is survived by her sons, Bobby Cobb (Susan) and Kenneth Cobb (Julia); daughters, Peggy Lee (David), Diane Masters, and Sue Brown; brothers, John Dennis Shiflet, Charles Edward Shiflet, Aaron Theodore Shiflet, and Jackie Lee Shiflet; 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Joe Lamar Cobb, Jonell Cobb, and Mary Frances McAlister; brothers, John Floyd Shiflet and Bill Shiflet; and sisters, Gertie Maye Atkins, Emma Julia Nimons, and Linda Irene Shiflet. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 30, 2021, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Dwight Greene officiating.
