Mary Ann Van Deusen Anderson, SC Mary Ann Van Deusen, age 92, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2014, at the Rainey Hospice House. Born March 15, 1922 in New Bedford, MA, she was the daughter of the late Manuel T. Sousa and the late Mary P. Gomes-Camacho Sousa. She received a degree from Anderson College and worked for many years at the Social Security Administration until her retirement. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was Past President of the Women's Club and was given the honor of Catholic Woman of the Year. Mary Ann was an avid gardener and belonged to the garden club and various other community clubs. The legacy that she will leave is the generosity she shared with her community. She is survived by her children, Noah Carl "Butch" Gibson, II and his wife Claudia, of Anderson, SC and Carol Gibson Bragg, of Green Valley, AZ; one grandson, Noah Hudson Bragg and his wife Emily and their daughter, Layla Catherine Bragg; three brothers, John, Joe and Frank Sousa; two sisters, Loretta Harrington and Katie Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, MSGT Noah C. Gibson; her second husband, Andrew Van Deusen; one brother and three sisters. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Ignatius Smith, OFM officiating. A private committal will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a prayer service beginning at 5:30 pm.
