Having been a resident of 203 Broad St. in Anderson, she had resided at Presbyterian Home since February 2003. Mrs. Dickson was born in Anderson, South Carolina, on November 29, 1916, the 6th of ten children to Bessie Henderson and James Milling Cathcart. In 1937, she married Clarence Eugene Dickson who died in 1975. Mrs. Dickson was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Anderson for more than eighty years. Mrs. Dickson is survived by their five children, Clarence E.(Gene) Dickson and wife Jan, of Seneca, Mary Ellenor Marsh and husband Harry of Hendersonville, NC, Elizabeth Selkinghaus and husband George of Columbia, James (Jim) C. Dickson and wife Valerie of Greer, and David Byron Dickson and wife Nicki of Columbia; her brother Dr. Edward R. (Ned) Cathcart of Spartanburg; 13 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Ellenor Cathcart, Leita McCaughrin, Ruth Kinard, Betty Carpenter, Sara Ruhle, and Jean Manning; brothers James M. Cathcart, Jr., and David Cathcart. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Presbyterian Home of South Carolina, P. O. Box 210037, Columbia, South Carolina 29221-0037 or to the First Presbyterian Church, 302 West Whitner Street, Anderson, South Carolina 29624. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of The Presbyterian Home in Clinton for their capable and loving care of their mother during her residence there.PAGE TWO OBITUARY: MARY CATHCART DICKSONThe funeral service will be held Tuesday October 7, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Dr. Dennis Tedder. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Tuesday.
