Obituary

Mary Martin Embler, age 101, of Anderson, SC, went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, November 5, 2026.

Born April 1, 1925, in Greer, SC, she was a daughter of the late Paul Vernon Martin, Sr. and Mae Bell Davidson Martin. She was happily married for 72 years to William Henry "Tough" Embler until his death in 2011. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Paul V. Martin, Jr. and Clyde Martin; and sister, Billie Etters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mary, affectionately known as "Mama Mae", lived a long life filled with love, laughter, and joy. She was a talented beautician who enjoyed her work, but what meant the most to her were the relationships she made with her clients and co-workers. Mary loved yard work and taking care of her flowers. She was able to tend to her yard until just a few weeks ago and her mind was as sharp as ever. She truly was amazing. Mary was a faithful member of Pope Drive Baptist Church, a church she loved dearly, and was in Esther Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her son, William Martin "Marty" Embler; daughter, Diane Harbin (Larry); grandchildren, Russell Harbin (Donna) and William Harbin (Elizabeth); 6 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pruitt Hospice for the wonderful care provided and to her friend and caregiver, Joyce Sheridan.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 9, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Matthew Danuser officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pope Drive Baptist Church, 2510 Pope Dr., Anderson, SC 29625.
