Mary Kathleen Webb Hamlin, age 92, formerly of 1410 Highway 413, Anderson, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016, at Brookdale Anderson. Born on June 10, 1923, in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Clinton Eugene Webb and the late Kathleen Dodd Webb. For over fifty years, she was the loving and devoted wife of the late Edward Eugene Hamlin until his death in 2011. Mrs. Hamlin attended Winthrop College where she received a bachelor's degree in business administration. For many years she taught accounting, typing and short hand at Forrest Junior College. Later she entered private practice, doing personal tax preparation and bookkeeping. Mrs. Hamlin was an animal lover. She had many cats and cared for all hungry animals. Mary was a devoted member of Long Branch Baptist Church for as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Hamlin leaves behind two daughters, Kathy Betsill and her husband, David, of Anderson and Tommie Whitt and her husband, Joe of Mauldin, SC; four grandchildren, Lea Renee Nash and husband, Clayton, of Denver, NC, Julianne Betsill of Knoxville, TN, Joseph Hamlin Whitt of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Abby Kathleen Whitt of Mauldin; and a daughter-in-law, Anne Hamlin of Seneca, SC. In addition to her parents and her husband, Edward, she was preceded in death by a son, Clinton Eugene Hamlin. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mrs. Mary Hamlin will be held on Friday, March 25, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Greene officiating. Interment will follow at Long Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
