Mary Kathryn Stancil Holcombe, age 85, of 429 Airline Road, Anderson, left us to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 14, 2015, upon her death at her residence. Her death was peaceful and she was surrounded by her beloved family. Born in Fair Play, SC on April 11, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Leitha Stancil. Mrs. Holcombe was a devoted, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved the Lord and was a faithful, life-long Christian. She is survived by her loving, husband of sixty-eight years, Jesse D. Holcombe of the residence; two sons, Charles Holcombe of Anderson and Donnie Holcombe (Joyce) of Iva; two daughters, Peggy Henderson of Meadeville, MS, and Verline Homesley (Dave) of Anderson; two brothers, Bobby Stancil of McCormick, SC and Cecil Stancil of Georgia; also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holcombe was preceded in death by four brothers, Joe D., Roy, Horace Edward, and Charles Benny Stancil; and a sister, Montez Holcombe. The funeral service to celebrate the life of Mary K. Holcombe will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. at the McDougald Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Frank Whitfield and Rev. Larry Stancil officiating. Interment will follow at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery in Fair Play, SC.
