Mary Jane Smith, age 73, of Anderson, SC, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born November 8, 1947, in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Norton Smith and Marjorie Strickland Smith Harter. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Gerald N. Smith; and stepfather, Carroll "Ike" Harter. Mary Jane was a graduate of Tri-County Technical College. She loved her profession as a nurse and worked with Hospice of the Upstate for 12 years before her retirement. She was a member of Neals Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Marjorie DeAnne Fisher DeLeon (Fernando), and Laurie Jane Fisher Williams (Corey); and grandchildren, Adrianna Rivest, Noel Rivest Neal (Josh), Alexander Rivest, Landon DeLeon, Gavin Williams, John Williams, Stacy Hernandez, and Adam Hernandez; companion Stephen L. Heggood; and her miniature schnauzer, Snooky. An outdoor memorial service will be held Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11:00 am at Neals Creek Baptist Church.
