MARY WINN "WINNIE" LONG October 27, 1937 - July 31, 2013 ANDERSON, SC Mary Winn Leake Long, wife of Needham Lapsley Long, MD, passed away on July 31, 2013 at National Health Care of Anderson. Born October 27, 1937, in Louisville, KY, she was the daughter of the late John Winn Leake and Mary Virginia Averill Leake, after whose death, she was lovingly raised by Jean Isabel Liston Leake. Winnie, graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Home Economics. She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and was a member of Young Memorial ARP Church. Survivors include her husband, Needham; and their children, son, William Hardy "Hal" Long and wife, Sarah of Greenville, SC; son, Gary Winn Long and wife, Kim of Birmingham, AL; daughter, Virginia "Ginny" Louise Long Hudson and husband, John of Paris, TN; and eight grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers; William "Bill" Averill Leake of Lexington, KY, and John "Jack" Samuel Leake and wife Julie of Louisville, KY. The family will receive friends at the Long family home, 2101 Willow Springs Road, on Friday, August 2, 2013, from 4 PM until 7 PM. In keeping with Mrs. Long's wishes, the visitation will be casual and informal. A memorial service celebrating and honoring Winnie's life will be held at Young Memorial Presbyterian Church, 508 Boulevard, Anderson, SC on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Dr. Jeff Bost officiating.
