Mary Clarene Lyon, of Anderson, SC celebrated her 80th birthday on October 25, 2017 and went on to her eternal reward on October 29, 2017 at Ellenburg Nursing Center. Born October 25, 1937 in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late Roy Frank Skelton and the late Aldie Lowie Skelton. Early in her career she was employed with Smith Drugs and co-owned Cedric Fish and Chips with her beloved late husband, Jerome Wesley Lyon. She was a charter member of Homeland Park Church of God and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed dancing, was a lover of gospel music, and was a CB radio operator, known as "Squeaky". Her smile and contagious laugh will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Mary is survived by her son, Dwain Lyon (Bertha): daughters, Janet Scarborough (David) and Crystal Lyon Barnett (Casey); brothers, Francis Edrew Skelton, Franklin Delano Skelton (Joane) and Jerry Glenn Skelton (Norma); sister, Kathryn Feltman (Bill); grandchildren, Wesley Scarborough (Kristen); Riley Scarborough and Bradley Head, Rhonda Lynn Brady, Sheila Matchett Dalton and Anthony Brady; nine great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Lyon; brothers, Ariel and A.T. Skelton; sisters, Etrulia Watt and Brenda Strickland and her niece, Angie Suttles. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2:00 pm Thursday with Rev. Donnie Norris officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at home of her daughter, Janet Scarborough.
