Mary Ann Walters Marsh, age 87, of Anderson, SC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Rainey Hospice House.
Born on June 10, 1937, in Anderson, SC, Mary Ann was one of ten children of the late Amos Albert and the late Pearl Smith Walters.
Mary Ann was a graduate of Girls High where she played the clarinet in the band. Following graduation, she began working as a secretary at Appleton Mill where she met her husband of 58 years, Garland Ray Marsh. She also worked at Trinity United Methodist as an administrative assistant for 28 years and was a member of the National Secretary Association. After moving to Lexington, SC, she was employed with Lexington United Methodist Church where she retired and volunteered at several churches in the area.
Mary Ann supported her husband Ray in all aspects of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free Masons of South Carolina which gave them the opportunity to travel across the USA and Europe. She was also a member of and highly involved with the Order of the Eastern Star. Mary Ann returned to Anderson after Ray passed.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by G. Ray Marsh, her parents the late Amos Albert and Pearl Smith Walters, three brothers, Alford Walters, Bill Walters and Harvey Walters, and five sisters Henrietta Roper, Alma Brock, Emily Brock, Edith Vickery, and Sue Boyer.
She is survived by sister Janie Baker; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and individual caregivers for the wonderful care provided.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 1:00-2:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Kevin Cooley officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pendleton Global Methodist Church, 217 S. Broad St., Pendleton, SC 29670.
The family will be at their respective homes.
