MARY C. McCLAIN October 8, 1930 - May 31, 2012 Mary Lois Cann McClain, age 81, of 1016 Hickory Lane, Anderson, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 31, 2012. She died at her residence with her loving husband of 64 years by her side. Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late R.E. Cann and the late Annie Mae Murphy Cann. Mrs. McClain was retired from School District 5, where she served in the cafeteria at Westside High School. She was a devoted member of Varennes Heights Baptist Church, where she served as church secretary and taught Sunday school. Survivors include her devoted husband, George S. McClain of the residence; a son, George Steve McClain and his wife Ann of Columbia, SC; a daughter Susan M. Kelly of Anderson; 4 grandchildren, Tracy Cruver, Tyler Kelly, Chrystal Templin, and Barrett Kelly; also surviving are 3 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a very special son-in-law, Danny K. Kelly, and sisters, Edna McCollum and Polly Byrd. A service celebrating the life of Mrs. McClain will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 3 PM at Varennes Heights Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Kirt Mitchell officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will be at the residence, and will receive friends at the church Saturday, from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM.
