Mary Elizabeth "Beth" McDonald, awesome mom, crazy Grani, and beautiful wife, went on her ultimate adventure when she passed away on the evening of Saturday, April 14, 2018. She was born July 24, 1948. She wanted all of us to remember that "life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming, 'Wow, what a ride!!'" An avid traveler and adventurer she lived by the motto, "not all who wander are lost." She is survived by her husband and fellow wanderer of 40 years, Robert "Bob" McDonald, two children, Krichelle Halualani, and Marc Halualani (Angela), two step-sons, Marty (Sherri) and Richard McDonald, and six grandchildren, Forest (Marnie), Emerald, Boston Elizabeth, Bradley, Evan, and Olivia. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Ehler (Sally), sister, Priscilla Martin and many, many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Charlotte Ehler, and her brother, Donald Ehler. She will be remembered by those who loved her for her vibrant and passionate personality; she was quick to smile, slow to walk trails, and always stopped to smell the flowers. Her love of nature guided her wandering spirit; she loved bright sunrises, cool evenings by the fire, snowy days, and critters, of all shapes and sizes. There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Cartecay United Methodist Church in Ellijay, Georgia at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you respect her written wishes: "If by chance you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you, take a loved one to lunch.
