Mary Lou Brewer McKenzie, age 81, of Dawsonville, GA, formerly of Anderson, SC, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2026.

Born May 11, 1945, in Spartanburg, SC, she was a daughter of the late Clifford Franklin Brewer and Velma Mae Sisk Brewer. She was married to Brian Oliver McKenzie until his death in 2011. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Brewer and Raymond Brewer.

Mary Lou was retired from BASF and was a member of New Heart Fellowship Church. She was a social butterfly who never met a stranger. She was fiercely loyal to her family and loved them immensely, especially her great grandchild Lael who was the love of her life. Mary Lou was kind, had a loving heart, and loved others big and deep. She will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know her.

She is survived by her daughter, Vertie "Renee" Hall of Dawsonville, GA; step-daughters, Dina Burkett and Natalie Schuckman both of Columbia, SC; brothers, Dennis Brewer and Tommy Brewer both of Spartanburg, SC; sisters, Grace Jefferson of Martinez, GA, and Martha Blackwell of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Justin Hall of Acworth, GA, Kerrick Hall of Acworth, GA, and Tara Hall of Dawsonville, GA; and great grandchild, Lael.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Richard Lister officiating. The family will speak with guests immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Heart Fellowship Church, 1705 Gerrard Rd., Anderson, SC 29625.
